About Contacting Staff at the Municipality of McDougall
There are many ways for you to contact us - mail, phone, fax and e-mail. For you to get the proper information with the fastest response we ask you to do the following, check the web page first, the next fastest method is phone, fax or e-mail. Using one of these last three methods you want to reach a person ( one that is available and can respond) that has an answer or can re-direct your call/question. Sending your question to the highest official may not always get you the answer on a timely basis, our office staff ( the Deputy Clerk, Deputy Treasurer and the Secretary-Clerk) have many years of experience in the municipality and are well versed in our operations, policies, by-laws, permits, applications etc. . They are usually the fastest source of information /assistance. We try to respond to questions within 24 hours or less , please ensure you give us your contact information if you want us to respond to you. You should also have the name of the municipal employee that you speak to so we can track your inquiry back to it’s origin.
Staff /employee responses to your questions/inquires are guided by municipal policies, procedures and practices approved by past/current Council. As such you may not always get the answer that you want to hear. If you feel there is valid grounds for appealing then you can ask to speak to the Department Manager who will review the matter with you , if resolution is not to your satisfaction at this level you have the option to speak to the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) if you are not satisfied with the CAO response you can request to appear before Council and can ask to make a deputation by sending in a written request to Council. You always have the option to by-pass staff and appear before Council but this could result in the slowest response as a result of the meeting schedules or if the Council decides that they want the staff to do research or prepare a report.
