PUBLIC CONSULTATION
The study for the Parry Sound Area Culture and Recreation Master Plan is underway. The Parry Sound Area Culture and Recreation Master Plan will guide Council and Staff of the Municipalities of McDougall, Parry Sound and Seguin in developing recreation and culture services in the Parry Sound Area over the next ten years. For the past month, the consulting team of dmA Planning & Management Services has worked with staff to gather and document information on existing services, identify trends relevant to recreation and culture services in our area, and has interviewed a number of individuals in the community.
The public consultation phase of the Master Plan will begin on September 19th, 2007. The consultants will conduct public meetings, on-line surveys, additional interviews and focus groups with agencies, community organizations and individuals involved in recreation and culture services. Open public meetings will be held as follows:
Town of Parry Sound – September 19, 2007;
7-9pm at the Children’s Aid Society
Township of Seguin – September 29, 2007;
9-11am at the Humphrey Community Centre
Municipality of McDougall – September 29, 2007;
1-3pm at the Municipal Office in Nobel
To provide residents with a forum for their input, the public at large is invited to respond to a brief on-line community survey posted on each of the municipality’s web sites, which will be launched on October 1st, 2007. The survey is a quick and easy way for individuals to let us know their opinions about current opportunities for recreation and culture in the Parry Sound Area and future directions that the Master Plan should contain.
To participate in the on-line survey, just log onto
one of the following three municipal web sites www.mcdougalltownship.on.ca,
www.townofparrysound.com,
and www.twp.seguin.on.ca
from any Internet site and look for “Parry Sound
Area Recreation and Cultural Master Plan”. Each
site will post the same survey, so you can visit any
of the three sites. Clicking on the link will take
you directly to the survey, which will take about
5 minutes to complete. The surveywill be available
until October 19th, 2007, at which time responses
will be tabulated. Because the number or geographic
distribution of respondents can't be guaranteed the
on-line survey is not statistically reliable. It will,
however, provide the study team with important information
and will be used along with other community input
to develop the Master Plan. Respondents are asked
to only fill in one survey per person, although not
necessarily one per household.
If you have any questions regarding the Parry Sound Area Culture and Recreation Master Plan, please contact Lynn Middaugh, Director of Economic Development and Leisure Services, Town of Parry Sound at 705.746.2101. Thank you and we look forward to you input. |
